Building Momentum is excited with partner with another one of our neighbors to offer a unique summer camp experience. During this 5 day camp, students will spend half their day learning all about STEAM through hands-on activities while the other half of their day learning Muay Thai or Jiu Jitsu/ Wrestling at One Way Martial Arts.

Building Momentum’s STEAM activities are designed to help students become the problem solvers of the future. Throughout the week, students will learn the Engineering Design Process, problem solving, iteration, and other skills such as 3D Printing, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Soldering, and Laser cutting.

One Way Martial Arts’ goal is to create an environment where you can become the best version of yourself regardless of your goals. All of their classes are taught be expert trainers. There is no previous experience needed to attend this camp. Come with an open mind and willingness to learn.

Building Momentum & Sportrock Hybrid Camp

Building Momentum and our neighbor Sportrock are excited to offer a collaborative summer camp experience for students. During this week long camp, students will be able to explore the STEM world in addition to being physically active while climbing. Students will spend half the day learning Computer Aided Design (CAD), 3D printing, soldering, electronics, and drone piloting at Building Momentum and the other half of the day will be spent at Sportrock’s Indoor Base Camp.

The Indoor Base Camp introduces kids to rock climbing at Sportrock’s indoor facilities. From climb time, to large scale obstacle courses, this week is jam packed with activities. This is a great place to start for brand new climbers, and young climbers looking to up their technical climbing skills!

In this 5 day camp, students will build a base of a battle bot robot. Using Arduino coding, students will learn the basics of coding and components of electronic devices. Students will then apply their knowledge of Arduino coding to program their robots to complete tasks such as follow a tape line, stop when a sensor detects an object in-front of the robot, etc. The week will conclude with students using the engineering design process to modify their robots for battle on the last day. Students will use recyclable materials, 3D printed and laser cut objects.  Camp will run from 9:00am - 3:00pm with a 45 minute lunch break. There will also be snack and brain breaks during the day.

Innovation Academy is offering STEM Camp for learner 5 to 9 years old. In these camps, students will have the opportunity to explore 3D printing, flying drones, engineering, and overall have fun! This is a way for students to get exposed to STEM in a safe and educationally based environment. Camp will run daily from 9:00am - 1:00pm with a lunch break. There will also be snack and brain breaks during the day.

You can choose to join on a daily basis or purchase a week long experience along with the option for supervised after care.

BSA STEM Summer Workshops

Innovation Academy at Building Momentum is excited to offer STEM Summer Workshops in partnership with the National Capital Area Council (NCAC) of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for both Scouts and non-scout students. During the week long experience, Scouts will have the opportunity to earn the Electronics, Model Design & Building, and Entrepreneurship Merit Badges as well as earn the NOVA STEM: Next Big Thing Award from BuildMo's BSA registered Merit Badge & NOVA Award Counselors.

Scouts will learn technology and skills in addition to meeting the merit badge requirements. Technology will include Laser Cutting, 3D printing, soldering, and Computer Aided Design (CAD).

This is a youth education program focused on problem-solving designed to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics to cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and innovation among students. The program aims to foster a deeper understanding of complex real-world challenges and encourage students to develop effective solutions!

STEAM Camp with Building Momentum & UpCycle

We are very excited to be partnering with UpCycle for a week-long, extended day camp filled with innovation, creativity, and lots of fun! From July 22-26, our campers will split their time between UpCycle and Building Momentum as they work on multiple S.T.E.A.M projects throughout the week. Campers will have the opportunity to unleash their imagination while also learning how to operate cutting-edge tools and technologies, all in a learning environment made just for kids. Campers will use their resourcefulness and self-expression to breathe new life into every-day objects, while learning about the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
